The governor was in town yesterday to sign the Jodi's Law bill.
This is the law that strengthens anti-stalking laws, which came about after the murder of Jodi Sanderholm.
Democrats were falling all over themselves grabbing the spotlight and credit for this.
BUT it was Republican Kasha Kelley that instigated the bill and shepherded it through the House at Topeka.
News releases sent out by the Gov., the Dem. party as well as Greta Goodwin, all said the gov would be here, as well as Goodwin and Ed Trimmer. They said they had supported it all along and did all but take credit for it, and never once mentioned Kelley.
Of course she was at the signing yesterday and got her due.
But I remember a year or so ago, the Dems were trashing it as something that was not necessary. Now that its passed, they want to take credit for it.
Just politics as usual. But it is a shame that they would play political games with something like this.
But people do have elections to win I suppose.

Thanks for being frank, James. I guess people will inevitably show by their actions what's in their heart.
Am sure Kasha won't lose any sleep over this (I sure hope not), but, how low can you go?
I'm sorry, I could not, cannot support or vote for people like that.
Thanks Kasha. I appreciate you.
I agree completely.
But don't get used to it.
Overall, this kind of thing that James brings up happens a lot in politics but it is usually under the radar. It is rarer for its ugly head to raise enough above the surface to actually get exposed for what it is. We can all hope they will learn their lessons and keep this kind of bottom feeding from infiltrating the rest of any of our local campaigns. We all deserve better and so do the good people who are the targets of this type of thing.
Well.. Do you really expect them to care about the Sanderholms? It's always about them them them. It's just sad that it took Jodi dying for this to be put in place- And also rather sad that this law is just now being signed.
I'm ticked off with most of the political game playing.
When we really get concerned about people, we'll all do right, for the right reason!
I remember reading somehwere that Goodwin said Kelley was being pushy on the issue. She made it sound like Kasha was a spoiled brat used to getting her way. I, for one, am glad Kasha kept after Goodwin and the others. She knew this was important! If Goodwin is trying to take credit, then she is the BRAT!
Should the spotlight not be on the reason behind the law? How many girls/women and even men that could be saved by this law? Too bad they have forgotten what the reason for the law is instead of posing for a photo op.
dance mom: the majority of people in the room including about one politician were there for the right reasons. There was one person in particular that was grandstanding. Everyone who was there knows who that was.
Thanks for exposing this James. It is good to know the story behind the story.
