Scott, it your time to shine!
The young people need a vision something they can hold onto and an example. The older ones need confidence and protection and a sense that their life's work was not in vain.
I know you can't be all things to all people.
The way forwrd can't be for just a few, it has to be for all!

I don't know why he even bothered to run again. He is stuck with the stigma from the Lowe's debacle. If he cared so much about what the people wanted, he'd have gone to the next step. Let's see if he addresses his reasons for not ven seeing the proposal, other than to play favorites with the downtown stores who were pitching a fit.

Let's see if he addresses his reasons for not ven seeing the proposal,

Read today's paper.
And listen to the blog today.
he takes on the question.
You may not agree, but ... he does at least give his reasons.

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts he tries to tell us how it benefits his friend, the lower-middle class.

If you vote for Margolius, Matthews, and Fry; you might be a red neck!

You just won't place any of the blame on the people that presented the proposal. How it was presented or even the fact that they probably could have done it on their own!
But what really popped their cork was they had used the commission on previous occassions to invest in their property which is outside the city limits. Maybe they saw it as an entitlment or a precedent set by a previous commission.
That is no doubt a double standard in your view.

Scott has always said what he means and does what he says. He thinks about things and is not afraid to debate the other commisson members if he disagrees. The Crash Tax and the Water bill comes to mind. He is the voice of reason and the voice for the less than fortunate of our society. He is his own man and is not afraid to walk alone. That is just the kind of person we need on the City Commission.

"The Crash Tax and the Water bill comes to mind."

"A day late and a dollar short" comes to my mind. If he'd grown a pair and stood up to Kuhn and Smith and voted to go to the next step and see the Lowe's proposal, he'd be a shoe in for the spot tomorrow. As it is, he doesn't stand a chance.

If the crash tax and water bill are the issues he stands on, then he is sunk. He voted for both. But it looks like he is trying to change it back now that the election depends on it. Anything said now doesn't mean anything. Will he still be talking the same way after the election?

He has made a big push to save his seat, but it is way too late for that.

Patrick posted a comment on the ACflipside blog that states that the Lowe's deal would not have come back on the city. And he has documentation to prove it.

Looks like the "he said - he said" came out in Patrick's favor.

The corridor study has the information.
Both sides interpret it to support their argument.

I have asked business people and finance people in other cities and other parts of the country. Just the basic question about using a TIF to get a Lowes and a shopping center.
Without exception, ALL of them shake their head in disbelief that it was rejected.

Pretyt obvious the people you are talking to don't undertand economics or corporate welfare.

Margolus may not always vote with Kuhn and Smith, but the times that he did stand out. He claims to listen to both sides, but he leans more to one side than the other. He is apologizing more and speaking to people more now than he has in 2 years. Why does he wait to election time to pretend to be with people? Why does he choose now to try to separate himself from the voting bloc that has controlled our city? Come on people, wake up! This is Washington politics! Will you let big city tactics work in your neighborhood? Why believe him now after 2 years of him doing what a few local businesses thought best, with no idea what we really want?

They really saved Bryant Hardware by not bringing in a Lowe's. Zach should have kept his mouth shut, and then they would have had something to blame their failure on other than poor management.
