city manager update

Doug Russell has not left. He is in his office doing city manager type stuff at this very moment, at 9:30 a.m.
He said he is an applicant for another job, but as of right now, he has not left or given a resignation.
Said he would not be making any announcement, or that none is planned as of this morning.

just a question
yesterday , was that a personal day off or was he paid to go interview , when searching for the opening ,was he using a city computer , or on city time ,
when he applied for the job , was he using a city computer , or on city time was the offer made on city time using the cities dime. these are things on my mind today

Knowing Doug.
He is much too much of a professional, and too savvy, to be so silly as to use the city's stuff for job hunting.
And, an offer has not yet been made.

Dont know how you could prove anything either way.
But, I really doubt this is an issue.

you are a newspaper man , and the city manager interviewed for a job , miles away , on a work day , and its not an issue . COME ON MAN ,

People are allowed to take vacation days or holiday time, just like everybody else in the working world. Don't try to make something out of nothing!

was it vacation or personal days when he did the job search or when he sent his resume ? just a question , dont make more out of it than it is . if the question offends you maybe you know something we dont

What is the purpose of this "blog"?

Is it maintained to inform the community or to provide profit for the newspaper?

The Traveler earns money by selling advertising space on the web blog page. Nothing wrong with that, it is the American way.

However those companies that advertise on the web blog page are charged by the "click". each time a person clicks on the "Traveler Blog" link it counts as a hit. The advertisers are charged per hit.

Normally the advertisers would pay a set amount per month/year etc. so their ad would appear in rotation on the main page. The "blog" ads are charged per click, which leads back to the original question...

Is the blog here to help keep Ark City informed? Or does Mr. Jordan deliberately choose to publish articles guaranteed to draw in more "clicks"?

Does the Traveler put their profits over the wellbeing of the city, by intentionally stirring up discontent amongst it's subscribers?

Actually the blog is seperate from the paper from a money standpoint.
the ads support Blogspot, the host of the site.
The traveler doesnt get any money from this - yet.
We have to figure out how to host the blogs ourselves first.

How have i stirred things up?
I am the one saying nothing has happened yet, and I am the one who has tried to correct the misinformation and nastiness of some posters.

You sound like those people who get caught driving drunk and say I will hurt their reputation if i put their name in the paper.
That's not stirring it up, thats just reporting.

If thats wrong, sue me :)

Especially on the issue of the city manager, I have not said anything negative and have only posted legitimate information - romulens notwithstanding.

What is the purpose of the blog?
sometimes i wonder myself.
:)

Let's be real. The purpose of this blog is to give naysaysers and those who have been ousted from the long-standing regime of power and control the ability to whine about amigos.

i wouldn't argue too much with that.
but "the other side" does its own share of whining.
Still hope more positive minded people will join in.

"Let's be real. The purpose of this blog is to give naysaysers and those who have been ousted from the long-standing regime of power and control the ability to whine about amigos."

So this is where the Three Amigos should come to whine after they are voted out at the soonest opportunity?

Why would we complain about ourselves? WE ARE loved by everyone but you.

OK, reality check.

If the city manager leaves, does that mean the 3 amigos pick the next city manager? What direction will they pick? They obviously didn't care for the style or direction of Russell, so where will they take us from here?

My bets are on someone better.

With the new era that these 3 are bringing I have noticed that everywhere but on here peole are buzzing with positive talk about how much they appreciate the changes and breath of fresh air they bring to the table. I for one am glad they get to pick someone who will work for us instead of someone who picks up his toys and goes home when the going gets a little tough. I would rather have the person who is committed to stay here and gitrdun. Maybe we should be looking locally for his replacement.

Don't worry, with the 3 amigos you will get exactly what you ask for. And deserve!

anyone who uses the phrase "gitrdun" needs to be listened to... there is an obvious air of intelligence there!

Apparently you've never watch CMT! YOU must be a snob. Quit listening to NPR. Your lattes are going to your head.

It's too bad the "breath of fresh air" comes from ignoring so many state laws. Dealing with the city manager State law (KSA 12-1011 to 12-1015), KOMA (Kansas Open Meetings Act), et al.

I can't see how you can say they are ignoring those laws. They know them better than you do and abide by them at every step.
