progress

We are working on our yearly progress edition. Its the bane - er a tradition - of small town newspapers.
We are doing stories about people who have made a difference in Arkansas City.

I would like to invite readers - and even internet readers - to participate. If you know of someone who would make a good story, let us know. OR, if you like, you can write a story about someone and what they are doing.

This is for the newspaper, so its not "anythings goes." Regular journalistic procedures would have to be followed, such as attribution of sources, no libel, name calling or opinion. It also cannot be done anonymously, if you want to write.
No guarantees, but, if you want to give it a shot, let me know and ill give you further guidelines.
If we use them, we will pay our normal freelance fee.

A listing of the individuals who have been honored with "cornerstone awards" in the last year would be interesting.

Just for the record, the Golf course is located at the VFW, not the American Legion.

Might be nice to aquaint yourselves with the city and the peope who live in it before you start writting about us.

Incorrect information is worse than no information sometimes.

In the paper, whoever wrote the article, stated the golf course is at the american legion, when in actuality it near the VFW.

This is not a typo, it shows a lack of knowledge of the community.

This is a culimination of poorly written and composed articles, generel news events and sports articles over the past few weeks, seems to be getting worse instead of better.

The proof reading and editing have left a lot to be desired.

This is a great place to rant, but I also think it is a good place to bring items like these to the attention of those who need to know.

I wouldn't want your job, but in a sense it appears that everyone who reads the paper has it.

Good luck
