Rules and reflections

Some people have crossed the line of civility, and so, I have felt the need to delete posts.
Hate to do that, but think about it. What if an anonymous person said that you were stealing, or engaging in some other illegal activity? Immoral activity?
How fair is that? It isn't.

Don't give me that free speech excuse either. The purpose of free speech is to allow freedom of expression, it is not to allow you to take anonymous potshots at anyone you wish.
If you don't like it, start your own blog and do as you wish.

I am not going to edit posts however. If your post says someone is engaged in illegal and or immoral activity, it will be deleted. Period.

We can have meaningful discussions here. Bitching and moaning about everything is not meaningful to anyone but the person who is doing it.

Nah, we will just quit coming here. No biggie!

Good deal. This will allow the two or three people who have something of value to say to continue to do it and will hopefully cause the low-life's to leave.

THERE ARE THREE AMIGOS. MAYBE THEY WILL COME HERE.

Ha. We know you won't quit. It won't hurt anyone if you do. After all, James has asked us nicely enough times to be civil.
You can disagree & not be disagreeable.
At least James lets us speak our minds and discuss issues important to us & A.C.(without editing).
Not too long ago, before blogs, we had no place for the community to dialog. Now we do.

Thanks James & Traveler.

The May 30, 2008 12:25 PM must be the same person who posted about peace and tranquility on another string. I'm all for a good fight but I have to say I agree with this poster again. I also agree with the one above that who was inviting the 3 amigos here. That would be a good idea. Maybe these blogs would then become useful but only if the low-life's stay away.

Yeah, the three amigos could communicate on here (which is also illegal) instead of the back room at Gambinos or Curtis Eaton's place.

I sure do appreciate you James. Thank you.
I like the opportunity to vent, but cannot and do not agree with the harsh statements against people which we don't agree with.
Some of the name calling, and just fair out nasty comments, have just gone tooooo far.
Discussion is good for the soul. I hope that the blog can help as well. ;)
Peace to all.....

Then Kuhn is right. Anyone can do the job. Or better yet we don't need anyone. I'm glad there is someone out there that knows what is going on

I'm glad your going to delete the posts that cross the line. It's getting out of control -- to the point I don't like to read it either. It's one thing to express an opinion, but some of these posts are useless. Thanks for moderating.

doesn't this pack of lies cross the line? why isn't it deleted?

Special notice to the Ark City Triad of Power (aka three amigos)

It appears they are on to us, they know all about our secret meetings.

We must change the location, next Friday we will meet behind the alley of Sybrant's building. It will be easy to find it is the building on Summit with all the boarded up windows.

Shhhhhhh it's a secret don't tell anyone......

It will be in the ACI board room. No blacks hispanics or women allowed.

I'm frustrated with the dog. I call him Craci or ACI for short. It just won't hunt. I take it out to an easy covey, and it just sits there.

There is nothing you can do to get it to flush out the birds where we can bag some. When it gets around other skilled dogs who do know how to hunt, it snaps and bites at them and they run away.

It surrounds itself with other worthless dogs that get protective when you try to put them in the truck so you can use hunter dogs.

It is really headstrong, and won't pay any attention to what we want and continually screws up everything we want to do.

It is hard to get rid of him, because some of the neighbors like the way he looks, but they don't have to take him hunting. They don't realize what his is like in private and base their opinion on what they've heard about what this dog's parents did. This dog's lineage was wonderful and amazing and they had a lot to show for their years of service. The offspring is another story. They just look good but are very ineffective except at barking and biting.

Another thing this dog does is defecate in its own cage even though it has a run. It is unsightly and smells something fierce but I guess it has just learned to live with it. It has been very difficult to get any local people to clean out the cage on a regular basis.

We have to get rid of him. It is the only thing that makes sense.

Our dog ACI just won't hunt.

Isn't ACI the only people in town looking to expand economic development? Either by creating new business (warehousing, production, etc...) or in the latest case additional retail? Is there anyone else in Ark City making the effort to attract business? Most cities would love to have someone to provide that service.

do we need to take LSD to understand that hunting stuff???? some one is trippin for sure

Not if there are blacks, hispanics or women present at the meetings.

Are there? Does someone feel they are not welcome?

Traveler Editor said...

im not sure, but i dont think the public is welcome there.
the newspaper didn't used to be, but we havent asked in several years.
someone told me the newspaper used to go to their meetings, but they had a falling out.
that was before my time.
but i dont think they are subject to KOMA laws.

Most cities would love to have someone provide that service (of trying to bring growth and economic development). That is true. Aci has never done that recently and you can't say they were responsible for bringing the lowes to the table.

If they had really wanted that to happen they would have tried to reach out to those who opposed it. Sure we would like to have someone be focused on growth besides just the commission. Why don't we see more citizens step up and form groups to do that since aci isn't? Blue skies looked like it had promise and then seemed to fizzle out.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure ACI did try to reach out. But how can they reach those that have already made up their mind? If ACI didn't bring Lowes to the table who did? The city didn't own that property. It was in the county. That was why negotiations lasted for years. Too bad the new commission didn't take that into account or do their homework on it. The new commissioners had accusations of not getting proper paperwork, not having enough information, and not being properly filled in on details. But they were willing to shut it down without moving to the next step and getting direct information. All of which was provided by ACI and the developers, the commissioners just couldn't take the time to learn the truth.

Anonymous said...

Again catch a clue. It didn't matter if the commission voted for it to go to the next level or not. They did us a favor by not letting it drag on. Besides a bad deal is a bad deal. It was bad then, would have been bad a couple of weeks later and is still bad now. Good or bad it STILL DOESN'T MATTER.

You have got to wake up and realize that either the county commission or the school district would not have let this go through. You are all arguing in circles over nothing.

Anonymous said...

It continues to amaze me how many people will swear to how bad a deal it was... when it never publicly came to the table. Please let us know what secret knowledge you have and how you came by it.

They could not make an offer until the steps were made to bring the property into the city, a public hearing was held, and approved to go to the next step. The commission KILLED it immediately after the hearing before an offer (which may have been negotiable) could have been made.

So again I ask, how could you have told the future and be able to swear that it was a bad deal?

As a city commissioner in many ways I am grateful to ACI. I am not on the board or any part of it. From the city standpoint, I appreciate that ACI spends their time and money drawing industry and business to Ark City. Without ACI Ark City would have to invest a lot of tax payer dollars to try to accomplish the same thing. I don't think the city would go about it quite the same way, but I am just as sure that the city could not do it nearly as efficiently or effectively as a private group can.

I think the attraction of industry and business is a great thing. No matter what is attracted there will always be some people who are against it for one reason or another. But for each opportunity we reject, there will be fewer opportunities in the future.

In every case many details will have to be withheld to protect incoming industry and business. Financial details, and even the names of the business are often withheld until many of the details are finished to protect costs, land, contracts and a number of other things that can vary tremendously.

ACI has brought in a number of businesses and industry over the past several decades, and I hope they bring more in the future. Though I do think that it is very important for the city to bring these things into the city limits in the future as they have done and tried to do recently.
