my favorite political song

The Who
Won't get fooled again, 1971

We'll be fighting in the streets, with our children at our feet
and the morals that they worship will be gone
and the men who spurred us on sit in judgement of all wrong
they decide and the shotgun sings the song

Ill tip my hat to the new constitution, take a bow for the new revolution
smile and grin at the change all around me
pick up my guitar and play, just like yesterday
then ill get on my knees and pray, we dont get fooled again

The change it had to come, we knew it all along
we were liberated from the foe, thats all
and the world looks just the same and history ain' t changed
cause the banners, they all flown in the next war.

Ill move myself and my family aside if we happen to be left half alive
ill get all my papers and smile at the sky
for i know that the hypnotized never lie ... do ya?

There's nothing in the street looks any different to me
and the slogans are all replaced bye the bye
and the parting on the left is now parting on the right
and the beards have all grown longer over night
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

A song I'd like to dedicate to the City Commission and particularly the Mayor:

Rocky Mountain Way, Joe Walsh

"Well he's tellin' us this
And he's tellin' us that
Changes it ev'ry day
Says it doesn't matter
Bases are loaded
And Casey's at bat
Playin' it play by play
Time to change the batter"

Nope. Just because you guys say we didn't need the City Manager and he wasn't important and we don't need a professional replacement doesn't meant it is true.

Lead follow or get the he77 out of the way, guys.

Now that you've chased away the City Manager, do you have any plan at all whatsoever for the future of Ark City?

Or are just you content with playing with toy badges?

Or are you just content with playing with toy badges?

Arrgh.... typo.

badgers? The three stooges are playing with badgers?

I wish! haha

I may not always agree with your politics, but I love your choice in music!

Badgers? Badgers? we don't need no stinking badgers. From Weird Al Yankovic's "UHF" in a parody of Treasure of the Sierra Madres:

"Gold Hat (Alfonso Bedoya): We are Federales... you know, the mounted police.

Dobbs (Humphrey Bogart): If you're the police, where are your badges?

Gold Hat (Alfonso Bedoya): Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges!

It is a shame lagonda thinks the city is adrift without the past city manager. Oh my oh my what are we to do! Nice guy and all, he brought us no salvation.

The past city manager brought everything the commission allowed him to. Why do you think he left?

It's a shame he wasn't allowed to do his job. We might see a significant difference.

For all this whining about the commission, remember, not all of them are moving in the same direction. Regardless of what you want of the city there is a rift of 3 to 2. Take any side that you think fits, but it seems to me it was NO-Growth versus Growth and the city manager came out on the short end of the stick.

If only he had stuck it out till the next election when the 3 to 2 division would be switched back to people who care about the city and not their own agendas.

Does this song remind you of anyone?

War Pigs by Black Sabbath

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of deaths construction

In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds, oh lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that up to the poor

Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait till their judgement day comes, yeah!

Now in darkness, world stops turning
As the war machine keeps burning
No more war pigs have the power
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings
Oh Lord yeah!

who would want a CM that has no backbone , a CM that gets pushed around by a little lady , a fat NOT well groomed older man , and a string puppet has no business being a city manager , WE NEED BACKBONE , MEN ,WOMEN , BROTHERS , SISTERS , MOMS , DADS , AUNTS , UNCLES , IF YOU HAVE BACKBONE PLEASE APPLY

Calling names is easy if you don't have to do the job. Undercut by your superiors. Turned against your training and experience. Mr. Russell did us a good thing. He quit trying to prevent us from going down the drain. We don't need any help from here!

We don't need a city manager with backbone, just someone that will follow orders. What we need is a commission that can give decent orders and let the city manager do their job.

SG:

Why do you listen to such lite rock? I had you pegged for Black Flag, not Black Sabbath.

Nope, just the classics my man. I am surprised that you know who Black Flag is though. haha (never listened to them myself... maybe a little Rollins Band).
