recall ?

Theres not been many comments since Friday. Moderation really isnt that big of a deal. I was already deleting some posts.
This whole blog and forum thing is a whole new world.
I dont really like the gratuitous violence that is spewed anonymously, but at the same time, freedom of speech is not always pleasant.

I dont read the forums either. There are people who say really nasty things about me over there anonymously. You don't see me complaining though. I'm all for their right to do so. Im exercising my right to ignore them.

I did hear that there was more talk of a recall vote on the forums.
The rumor is the lawyers need something like $5,000 more.
The only people who like a good controversy more than newspaper people is lawyers.
I dont really see anyone benefiting from a recall other than the lawyers.

The city is already fairly well divided. There is already a good bit of negativity going around. I think a recall would just make that worse. Elections are not that far away, and that is where recall votes are supposed to happen.
We need to think about what is best for the community overall and in the long term.
A recall vote would sell a lot of newspapers, and keep attorneys employed, but I just dont think it would be good for Arkansas City.

There is a huge question of whether there is even legal justification. That's why the lawyers want a big war chest to defend against potential lawsuits.
We might have an election or two before it would be resolved in the courts.
And Im not even commenting on whether I would be for or against it.

I think a LOT of people would be for it, but, like you, may just be willing to wait till the next election.

I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't really feel like sitting at the computer on a gorgeous weekend. I love summer and when the weather is decent, I spend more time outside than in. Now wintertime? Rather stay indoors and take long winter naps!!

I think those people who are interested in a recall would be better served by participating in the next election cycle. Helping to educate your fellow citizens on the issues and making sure the best people for the job are voted in would be a better use of resources.

It has been documented many times on here that before the election each of the three amigos clearly stated they would not vote for incentives to bring in a big box under any circumstances.

They did EXACTLY what they said there were going to do before they were elected.

The lesson: pay attention to who YOU vote for.

Well, I didn't vote for the Amigos (but I did vote), so my conscience is clear. You can bet that I will be there next time voting for anyone BUT the amigos (within reason of course).

It was a great weekend.
I hung out at my campsite and watched the river flow, listened to some birds, watched other various animals run around.

I simply wish we could divert some of that energy from in-fighting to solving problems and researching opportunities.

Why, well to make a long story short -

When Lockes pulled out of the area it was my understanding they didn't see any continued growth or expansion in this area and chose to relocate the store.
They service this area through Wichita and Ponca City.

That's not the only time I've heard the that comment about Growth in our area!

Then there are local businesses that are looking outside the area to expand (mostly to the North) where they are growing! Local Businesses are also bidding jobs outside the area. (Some of them
have been doing that all along.)

Times are tough but there are communities that are simply finding ways to grow!

I don't think there is a simple formula that can be applied across the board. We have potential in alot of areas but, have no Will!

I wonder if those companies see a more realistic picture then we can through the monitor or from the street!

Has our area stopped growing?

Cume-by-YAWN! Wow now I know what a male dog feels like before the vet removes his manhood! The life force has been sucked out of the blogs by the alien money hounds!

With the moderation I think that checking all the posts isn't the biggest problem why there are fewer comments. The fact that it can take hours for the post to actually make it for people to see is the problem. With that you are intrupting the normal flow of conversation/discussion. People can loss sight if they can't make a point when they are ready to.

i dont care if you moderate or if bryant cries , he cried loud enough we all heard it loud and clear

I agree about the delay in posting. There has been a large drop off of posts and readership on the forums as well, and i feel the reson is the same.

Traveler Editor said...

yea im getting many of them posted as soon as they show up.
during the day at work that is pretty easy.

some of it may be the summer slump as well.

we could get together in a yahoo chat one evening, if you guys wanted to.
you just have to have yahoo messenger - a free download ..

and for the record, I do know how to spell reason.

Sometimes my brain works faster than my fingers... and visa versa.

Nah, the readership dropped off, because it is the same person who has multiple personalities and they all the personalities decided they didn't want to have to wait to talk to each other! LOL!

haha SG. Good for you!

Never thought I'd see the day where someone would challenge someone to a fight on here because they don't like what they have to say. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Hopefully they were kidding.

yup, far as i know, being a ninconpoop, is a matter of opinion, and not illegal.
however, you can't call someone a thieving ninconpoop, because that would be illegal.

sg - your gung fu is no gud!

Anonymous said...

My tiger style will defeat your praying mantis style. haha

I don't practice anymore actually. It was great fun back in the day though. Kung Fu and Muay Thai combined into a nice style, even though you wouldn't think so looking at them. I should pick it back up... It might keep me from getting too fat as I age gracefully. Wish we had more schools around here.

SG, maybe you should start one!

Nah, I'm not good enough to teach anymore. I've forgotten a lot of the fundamentals and theory of it. Didn't figure I'd need it as long I remembered the moves (and I'm a bit rusty on those).

Besides, I'm such a silver tongued devil, I can talk my way out of fights. haha Why would anyone want to hurt lil' ol' me anyway??? (And if all else fails, I'm also a firm believer in the second amendment.) ha ha

But like I said, I'm a lover not a fighter. Just a big ol' softy!

There is someone in town who teaches those. I think he teaches at the rec center. Top notch MMA training by Elliott.

Anonymous said...

I have actually considered mma, but I think I'm too old (late 30's) and out of shape, and I don't want to go to work with black eyes every day.
