Did yall notice the verse of the day at the bottom of this blog?

When you or your neigbor knows more about my financial stability is the day I will stop being as you would say a naysayer and start participating in your fantasy! No I am not godless, but what I am is a good parent and grand parent that wants to provide for my family when all of you tax yourself in to oblivion. Its like my friend above says....there is an old indian saying...until you have walked a mile in my mociasins....don't be so quickly to jugde me...or is there something in the Bible about passing judgment?

when did it become ok for a news source to have a religious opinion? The Music Fest that you post so high about that is religious. When is the Traveler going to promote a non-religious show?

The Bible is truth.

Having said that, such short verses taken from their context can be difficult to understand the truth.

Yet Proverbs are generally simple little statements. Doesn't this verse talk more about spiritual destruction than material posessions inside of a home?

Anonymous said...

sounds like from God's mouth to the media!

Anonymous said...

I agree, the media will often destroy a person without knowing the real story. Did you catch the only thing going around about Mel Kuhn's story on National level- just the name and that it was blackface-plastering his picture- which doesn't even look blackface-but beside the point- didn't have any real substance on background & didn't want to say one thing about that he won and everyone that night cheered him on. And boy CASA really drove the bus- so did Foss or Voss or whatever your name is- don't really care-usually don't listen or read your stuff anyway. And James, you seemed like you really enjoyed twisting the screws on this one too- a little surprised that you would be so obvious. (Not that I'm a huge fan of Mel's either- just saying that you guys were a big hand in his demise-I'm sure he's grateful and his family too) Way too one sided or empty all together. The media has came to a point that it just wants to sell- it doesnt care who it takes down in the process or destroys the integrity of. SHAME! SHAME!!

It's a shame about Patrick McDonald. Why did it have to be one of the good ones? Hopefully he will be back to business as usual soon.

Anonymous said...

Ooooh Boy. Here it comes again. The old "Mell's the victim" card.

But, you do raise a valid point. There's plenty of blame to go around.

But, Mell said it best.
"The buck absolutely stops here."

"McDonald was air-lifted to Via Christi Medical Center at St. Francis Campus that evening after being treated at South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center, his brother, Ralph McDonald, said late this morning. "He's doing pretty good," Ralph McDonald, owner of McDonald's Computer Service, said late this morning."

Do you get a dollar every time you say "Owner of McDonald's computer services" or something? How was that relevent?

Wow, is this pick on the paper day or what?

They have the right to promote any event religious or not that is going to be a part of the community.

Do all of these posts move the discussion forward or are they intended to be mean spirited or to destroy ideas and concepts. I am beginning to agree that any new ideas in this town are considered evil.

So a Bible verse was used to make a point. People in Ark City use Bible verses and religion to make their points all the time and some are not very positive. I thought this was meant to make a point and I do not profess to be a religious scholar but just considered this to be a provoking quote.

Is there an amendment that says freedom of the press? Did I miss the one about separation of news and religion on a blog?

I wonder if anyone would object if i quoted form the tibetan book of the dead.
or the bgvadgita?

I really have never said what i thought about the mell thing. I havent given an opinion one way or the other.
All i did was post what was happening.
Im still not saying what i think :)

It was relevant to separate the two mcdonalds. to clarify which was which.

Personally, I appreciated the Bible verse. It didn't hurt me one bit. It helped.

I would prefer if once in a while, you would quote from our bible, the Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey.

Surely, since you are a religious person, you wouldn't discriminate against other religions, just because you don't believe them? Maybe I can quote from it on here now and again?

Thank you for being open minded to things you don't believe, much like you expect from your non religious readers.

But, you had just called him "His Brother, Ralph McDonald" in the previous sentence. My english teacher would have used the red ink on you.

For what reason the red ink?
The comma?
It was still relevant, considering that his store is just a few doors down.. i thought it was good reporting. good detail.

That damn Burford project is really pushing the limits...how do they get to use city dump trucks? My taxes pay for that fuel. And the water draining from the roof goes down into the park between it and the chamber of commerce. It floods everything, you can not even use the steps for the waterfall coming down them. When I fall this winter and break a hip on the ice, I promise to sue the hell out of the city and arts council and plumber that installed it. This has been complained about and now to top it off I will have to travel extra miles just to get to a hospital. This is a bunch of crap.
Self-entitled bunch of hippocrites.

That is certainly the type of forward thinking people that makes this town special. Here is a group of volunteer people working to clean up a project with TIF funding, tax incentives or anything else and they still get crap. They are also working at break neck speeds to get the chute down before Arkalalah and then they can put in the windows which they paid for without anyone helping.

Why are you people so mean to people doing free work? Get off your sore rear end and come be part of the solution.

Anonymous said...

Should be without TIF funding on the Burford.

Anonymous said...

They don't have a tif. It is grant money, donations, and volunteer labor. I hope it doesn't stay an eyesore much longer.

Anonymous said...

Join the volunteer work force and those windows will be in that much quicker. They just need more willing workers to get it closer to reality.
If nothing else stop by and take a tour. You won't believe what a few people with a dream and some hard work can do on a shoe string budget. This is the very thing the rest of us COULD do if we really wanted to make a difference.

Everyone should be involved in such a project. There are several projects one could join.
And you can even start your own.

Thanks jj. Sometimes blog owners delete your posts if your posts don't agree with their view of the world.

I feel like I know you well enough to say that you don't agree with all the posts, but, at least you try & let us speak our mind (within reason)

though the BOOM CHICA BOOM thing was getting on my nerves. haha :)

Man yesterday I felt really good like maybe people were growing a little in this city and then today I log on to a religion war on here. Maybe people need to go back and read the last couple blogs because I feel for the most part everyone was agreeing we get more accomplished when we don't bicker and we tollerate each other a little more. I guess what I'm saying is if you don't like the blog with a religious theme then don't read it or disagree with it but don't fault another man for his beliefs. I admit I logged on to this one because I thought it was an interesting verse after all the talk yesterday so no one should take this out of context. Try asking JJ what it means to him or why it's his thought of the day rather than jumping to your own conclusions.

In fact what and why JJ?

Maybe it will help some?

For the person who wants other religious quotes; From the teachings of Gautam Buddha "People with opinions just go around bothering each other."

Kinda applys here.

"Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth."

"Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds."

And no I'm not Buddhist but that doesn't mean I don't agree with every one of those quotes.

Mr. McDonald get well quickly and his brother Ralph of Ralph McDonalds Computers (hey in a world where a man changes his name to Ocho Cinco can we actually judge?) may you and the rest of your family stay in good health.

How can you say the Bible is true. Did you witness? Or have others just told you so? Hear say? Have you ever played telephone telephone?

Well i have that verse of the day thing that is on the blog. I just noticed it and thought it really fit into what was being talked about ... so thats why i posted it.

Words do hurt people and they do damage .. mouth destroys his neighbor ..
but knowledge ... with knowledge of truth, one can escape the slings and arrows that come from the godless.
We can escape the damage that people would cause with their mouths through knowledge of truth.

in this verse, i think godless means more like people who have no regard for truth or what is right. Its more a label than a description.

Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians .....

Why did the Corinthians never write back? Maybe they weren't interested in discussing religion.

The Native American tribes had a religous philosophy that made a lot of sense....

"Though the man maybe of another tribe, treat him as your brother. Offer up food to kill his hunger, and drink to quench his thirst. Do this to all men you meet and your casinos will always be packed, and the skim off the top lucrative."

Anonymous said...

Words hurt nothing more than feelings. They do not kill, they do not maime, they are nothing if you don't believe them. If the self image you project is truth, then lies and words will never harm you unless you are full of doubt.

Hey JJ:
I was told that Barack Obama wants a total ban on handguns and a ban on concealed carry laws. Is this true? I was also told that he was a leader of a powerful gun-banning lobby group. Can you please see if this is true?

Its not exactly true, just like most things in politics.
He is generally opposed to guns, but has not proposed any total ban on handguns.
Actually McCain has signed off on tighter regulations for buying guns.
the NRA prefers mccain, but just barely.

The TRUTH about Obama and his anti-gun agenda.

The Exec. Director of the Illinois State Rifle Ass'n has this to say:

"I lobbied Barack Obama extensively while he was an Illinois State Senator. As a result of that experience, I know Obama's attitudes toward guns and gun owners better than anyone. The truth be told, in all my years in the Capitol I have never met a legislator who harbors more contempt for the law-abiding firearm owner than does Barack Obama.

Anonymous said...

and he continues...

"In closing, I'd like to remind you that I'm a guy who has actually gone nose to nose with Obama on gun rights issues. The Obama I know cannot even begin to identify with this nation's outdoor traditions. The Obama I know sees you, the law abiding gun owner, as nothing but a low-class lummox who is easily swayed by the flash of a smile and a ration of rosy rhetoric. The Obama I know is a stony-faced liar who has honed his skill at getting what he wants - so long as people are willing to give it to him."
