Here is another experiment I would like to try.
I am going to try the live blogging thing again Saturday morning. Lets say 10 a.m.
There wont be any event or anything.
Just stop by and we can talk about whatever you want to talk about.
What do you all think?
Does anyone want to do that?
Just sign on here and you will see the live blog. You may read or comment.
I have not figured out how to let comments just show up on their own, so I will have to approve them.
Ill let as many through as I can.
One thing I would like to talk about is the paper. The web site.
Other than that, you can name the subject.
I guess we will go about an hour if people are interested.

I think you should save it for meetings and such, but if Saturday will be a practice run, then have at it.
If you want someone's comments to show up automatically, I believe that you would need to set up a chat room rather than a blog.
Several people have commented that they would not want an elected official that was not computer literate in office. I wonder if they stopped to consider that many people who use the computer on a daily basis for their jobs do not know anything about blogging. After following this blog for the last month, I can understand why many people would avoid blogs. Too often they are used to attack public officials, the school, or politicians.
Anyone who serves the public knows that they will be criticized. That comes with the territory. But when a person becomes a target for bashing on a blog, they are going to become defensive even if they have nothing to hide. It is human nature.
One person commented that evey 14 year old was computer literate. Many 14 years old are computer literate. To be computer literate, you need to have a computer to use on a regular basis. I am a school teacher. I know that a large number of my high school students do not have computers at home to use. Many that do have computers, do not have internet access. As the economy gets worse, that number will become greater. Even though the schools have computers for students to use, few of them will have the opportunity to become truly computer literate if they only use them in school. Many times they only use them for testing or writing papers. Internet access is limited. Students do not have time or permission to use blogs, chat rooms, or e-mail.
If you have visited the public library after school hours, you will see students and adults there using the computers because they do not have them at home. It would be difficult for a public official to schedule time to use the library computer for blogging. If they used their work computer for blogging and happened to be an employee of the city, I am sure there would be many citizens who would object to that.
Blogs can be great tools. I wish people who use this one would quit bashing people. Open discussions and differing opinions are great, but spiteful comments and repeated negativity do not help keep open dialogue going.
