Thurber will face many, many years of appeal. Forcing the family, and this community to relive this tragedy again and again. This will also cost the state untold additional dollars. It would have been far better to put him in jail for life, with no possibility of parole, and no real reason for appeal. It would have been done and behind us.
Yes, i do agree, it is a sad day. Justice has been served, but it also has been served on the Thurber family as well and leaves them with a heavy heart.
What happened was terrible. But how can the good religous people of Cowley County justiy sentencing a person to death and on the other hand preach against abortion? Ask God if you really done the right thing!
How dare those people who wrote the editorial in Friday's paper compare the jurors with Thurber! Who do they think they are to preach and call the jurors anti-Christian! Judge not lest ye be judged.
Mrs. Norton, I am a christian and take offense to your calling the jurors unchristian. What kind of "christian" does what Thurber did? What kind of "christian" doesn't apologize until the day he is sentenced? I agree that he will face the ultimate judgement one day but until then, I think he deserves all he gets! He is NOT getting a true eye for an eye in my opinion and I thank each and every juror for their service. We appreciate all of you!
I have been at the Traveler for 4 years. I have been in the newspaper business longer than that. I came here from South Carolina. Apart from that, I am an unapologetic Jesus Freak. I am not, however, Republican.

And I agree with it!

There is nothing to say.
It's a sad day.
Justice is served.

In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy was just trying to restore herself to how her world was before the tragedy.
The troubles are over. It's time to heal and go on. With a lot of work and empathy, Ark City can return to normal.

Don't know if it matters to anyone, but that was a letter to the editor, not an editorial.
