What seems right

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.
Proverbs 16:25

Today's verse of the day caught my attention.
I may start posting more "wise sayings" and see if people want to talk about them.
Ill include some from other religions and from non-religions.
Anyways, this one is interesting. It is identical to Proverbs 14:12, and is the only one that is repeated.
This verse really goes against a core value of our culture. Our culture says what feels right is right, or whatever is right to you is right for you etc.
What seems right, may not be, is what the writer is saying. Our culture says what seems right has to be right.
That's a deep philosophical issue, but the thing is, we can be deceived. What seems right really might be bad for us. We should try to look at the facts and not our feelings in deciding what is right or good.
The point is, you reap what you sow, no matter how it seems to you or how you feel about it.
Another way to look at it, from a more cynical point of view, would be that we all end up dead anyway, so ... it doesn't matter what you think is right.

Proverbs 22:20:

Have I not written thirty sayings for you, sayings of counsel and knowledge, (21) teaching you true and reliable words, so that you can give sound answers to him who sent you?

There are numerous duplicates or near duplicates in Proverbs:

16:11 and 20:23

Hows about:
21:9 Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.
21:19 Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife.

I would bet that there are only 30 subjects, though. Maybe someone could cross reference this to find out?

Now that the windows issue and the crash tax is over, Robin and I have just been hanging out, watching TV and drinking beer.

We've been working on the afterburner and the turbocharger to reduce the boost, where we can get a little better mileage out of the car.

Alfred keeps looking out the window at the sky for any message, but lately it has been fairly slow around here.

What did happen with the windows? Did it all get dropped like everything else in AC?

With a reasonable transition, it is a requirement.

Windows ordinance passed.
Downtown area was changed to a zoning issue.
They have about a year or so to get it done.

These blogs used to be somewhat interesting. Now it seems to be a Sunday school lesson. How boring!

You want to make it more interesting?
Look at who serves as members of the various boards in the area and how many are on several boards?
I think you might see a pattern!
Is it because no one else will perform the duties reqiured or is there another reason! May be just a social event?
Thats all I'm going to say!
You do something for a change!

Drew
I invited folks to send me topics of the day, no one has.
Im just having trouble thinking up topics.
Just the winter time blues.

I was just thinking of posting some "wisdom sayings" and having them from different sources.
Ill come up with a buddha saying for tomorrow. :)

I honestly think it is because no one else will.
Though there are exceptions where there are power trips.

OK JJ, Here is an idea. I found it interesting to look up what countries have the death penalty and which do not. Maybe you could have a list of well known countries that do and well known countries that do not and let people comment on that.

I kind of like having a religious topic on Sunday.

Other than that, the board seems to drive itself with regard to topics...

I have noticed at times, people talk about what they want to talk about, regardless of the topic I might choose.
I feel ignored sometimes :) :)
(just kidding)

Ill see what i can find about death penalty countries. I might also check on states requiring voter ID as long as Im looking.
