A blog by Managing Editor James Jordan about the newspaper. So far it's mostly about city commission, but I hope to delve into other local issues.

Archers contract was for 90,500 and 450 a month car allowance. Question for Monday work session, is mileage an acceptable charge on top of the car allowance?
It was a great blog but many that might have been involved had other plans..including the hospital board meeting.
If you want docs at a meeting then the real world has to understand that during most work sessions they are either still at the office or at the hospital. It is hard for many to be there at the time.
No one seems to want to answer the question as to why re-organize the hospital board now. What is wrong with what we have now? Why have we not heard a comment from Mr. Kelley or a copy of his letter of resignation? Why did he resign? Why will Mr. Kuhn not comment on the resignation..as mayor he needs to address the questions. What comments do each of the commissioners have on re-organization?
If the board is too large...who decided that NOW and why? Have studies been done to support that? Have the board members expressed concern about the size? Why did no board members know about the upcoming discussion on the hospital until it was almost too late.
Who was covering the presentations at the hospital this morning?
When will a candidate forum be held and who will sponsor it? Will there it be scheduled far enough in advance for people to actually plan to attend and not make it a last minute deal?
If reorganization takes place, will any of the current members be retained? If so how decides who goes and who stays. How is that decided? Will a new charter address the selection process for board members?
If it is up to the mayor to pick the board and the charter is redesigned then the Mayor would pick his new board before the election. I think I am beginning to get a clearer picture. Another hand picked board by our mayor and we all know that he has only our best interests at heart. He has shown that in so-o-o many of his decisions and the way he has treated so many people. Just when I thought government couldn't get any worse.
"is mileage an acceptable charge on top of the car allowance?"
not if he's filling up for free wherever the city takes all there vehicles to fill up. If the gas is paid for by the city, then he should not earn mileage as well.
I have been at the Traveler for 4 years. I have been in the newspaper business longer than that. I came here from South Carolina. Apart from that, I am an unapologetic Jesus Freak. I am not, however, Republican.
