anonymously

There was a bit of discussion on another post about posting anonymously - the pros and cons thereof.
I think it is both a very good thing and a very bad thing at the same time. It is part of the brave new world of the internet. You can be who you want to be and create your own reality on here. Even if we did require people put their names on here, there is no way of knowing if it is real or not.
(There is a way, but it is costly and time consuming, so we are not going to do it.)
It aggravates the power structure, which isnt always a bad thing.
It also allows false information - and hurtful comments - to be spread without repercussion.
There is no accountability, which isn't so good.
People are emboldened to say things they would not ordinarily say, and I am not so sure that is good. Its easy to launch nasty attacks on here and hide behind anonymity.
I have picked at anonymous posters on here. I am not really opposed to it, but I still think people should be brave enough to stand behind their comments.
Some have said nasty things about me. I dont take it very seriously though. If you came to me and said it to my face I might. I might also give it right back to you :)
But I allow those. This way no one can complain about nasty things that are posted about them.
Above all I try to be fair and allow as much as humanly possible on here.
Ill allow anonymous posts, and Ill still pick on you for that from time to time.
I believe Arkansas City would be a better place if people got more involved, and if people stood up and spoke and were not afraid to be identified.

I'll start it off! I look at these blogs as a source of entertainment. Sorry James! Those that looked to the blogs as a reliable source of facts need to step back into reality. Many of the commissioneers are disgusted by the blogs because they do seem to force some to pay attention to a few things. To me it just shows there lack of leadership. They should be guided by what is right and what is best for the community as a whole. They should not be guided by the blogs.

We should all be aware that the blogs are a source to announce or receive instant information good or bad, fact or fictional. It is a reality we live in. We have always been taught when receiving information is to "consider the source"

I do commend you for allowing a lot of the content that you have. True first amendment freedom will sometimes offend others, but where do we draw that line? I think you have done pretty well so far, especially considering that you don't have to allow anything at all. Of course, no one would come here, much like David's blog that gets very little traffic because of his nazi-like stranglehold on the first amendment.

@8:34 AM ditto. my sentiments exactly.

btw, again, thank you jj for allowing people to speak. i'm fairly sure you don't agree with some of the stuff said on here, but within reason, you do allow your blogger friends on here to speak. as said earlier is why i continue to come here. thank you.

everyone i've spoken to in past has warned against putting personal info on the internet.

The blog nazi demands perfection from himself and his blog.

How can he demand any less from his bloggers?

No blog for you!!!

At least he doesn't preappove the messages

If you're ashamed to put your name on what you say, maybe you shouldn't say it, and if you do say it maybe everybody should give it the weight anonymous remarks deserve, whether they're typed on a blog or spray painted on a wall.

Dave's blog is more political state and national and more factual than JJ blog and therfore it requires one to think outside the box rather than in the box like most here do. To reply on JJ's blog all you have to have is a smart a$$ attitude and half your brain and on David blog you have to show you can use both sides of your brain. Hence this is why AC cannot move forward to many people think like the hic commissioner at city hall, there you have it like a country HIC

offense intended
N.N.T.RESPOND

I agree! Especially since the people that respond to the author's blog are often illiterate as the author.

And I will post anonymous...

The biggest reason to post anonymously is that there are nutcases who might track your name to an address and track you down for your opinions on this blog.

America is based on a great history of published anonymity. Look up Publius.

Yea that could happen, and some nut case could also pick you out at random and kill you - as per the BTK killer.
Id say the odds are about the same of either one happening.
I dont object to anonymous posts on here, but I do still think fear is a factor.
