Ideas, opportunities

Someone posted an idea on the Ideas blog, which i created last January.
I thought it was an interesting idea.

It would be more interesting if people listed the things they can't get or services they need to help identify possible opportunites/businesses.

I think that's a great idea. People could do that here. We could also use the "paper" paper in this area. Send in what you need and cant get here. I ll keep a tally and post it.
One thing I need a lot is ink cartridges. I have an old printer, so its hard to find what i need. Walmart usually has it, but even their prices on ink is too high. Other stores in town have them - but not the one i need - but ... they want like $60 for the set and I get it for $20 on the net.

What are your needs

I've got a question. Do you think registered offenders should be allowed to work in stores where young children are? There are a couple of registered offenders in this town that work in public places that children and youngsters frequent. It was very upsetting to find this out recently at one local grocery store when a lady I was standing nearby informed me that her child had been assaulted at a sitter's and now the man works in the store.

Just make sure you dont name any names, ill delete any such thing quickly.
Thats a whole nuther subject anyway.

james,
as far as i know you have not contacted me for your printer cartridges. i know "wal-mart" is usually the first choice of people here in ark city, but we have become comfortable with being the third or fourth choice. we take what we can get. maybe it is something we can or cannot get, but nonetheless, i would like to have at least a chance at getting your business. we do have cheaper options. troy ebert. brown's office supply

james,
just another thought. i occasionally get used "laser printers" in on trades which are fairly new in the market, which, by the way, would save you $ without buying those expensive ink cartridges. just something to chew on. troy ebert

cool
ill stop by
the thing i have is a photo printer, which prints high quality photos - better than you can get at walmart or wallgreens.
i have got a couple cartridges there at your place :)
actually i found a black cartridge at browns that no one else had, not even in ponca..

but as time passes people stop carrying older cartridges.

Anonymous said...

they might stop carrying them BUT they can still get them AND save you a trip to ponca with their higher sales tax. Brown's is a good resource for both supplies and repairs and parts for printers. Mcdonald's and Dave's Discount Computers also carry a supply of printer laser and ink cartridges. Just make sure you inquire in advance about your make and model so you can have it ordered in instead of waiting until you run out and then have to make an emergency convenience buy.

On the separate note.... NO the sex offenders should not be able to work, live, eat or anything anywhere near children. They should have their houses, cars and clothes painted pink. They could always move to mexico!

Oh well, get this. I saw a registered offender driving a city truck a couple of times. I know him and was rather surprised. I find that odd, but I guess this city and county doesn't care anymore who they convict(as long as you don't have a special name or money) or hire.

Gotta love state laws that arent harsh enough to keep offenders away from schools and public places with children.

give it a rest. i thought this thread was about "ideas & opportunities".

Traveler Editor said...

yea can we get back to the issue,.
ill be down to browns this coming week.

Why will you delete names of registered sex offenders? They are public record, and people should know where they work around kids.

Because I have no way of knowing if it is true, and I am not going to take the time to look it up and see.

I guess some people can't read. Try it again here, the topic is

"Ideas & Opportunities".

This is NOT about sex offenders. I'm sure there are plenty of blogs out there that deal with that.

Now go.

Why are so many people on these blogs anonymous? We have a First Amendment. Use it.

Something to consider about the cost of printer cartridges: Two contrasting approaches taken by the manufacturers. Kodak's practice is to charge more for the printer, and sell the ink at lower prices than the others. All the others sell the printer at a lower price, then rip you on the ink. I switched from an Epson Photo 820 to a Kodak 5100. The Kodak not only produces better prints, but the ink is easily available and costs a lot less. I think that over time the Kodak approach is a better deal for the customer.

What kinds of sales are there at Brown's this week? Anything good?

What kinds of fudge do they offer?

Is Brown's the best place in town for office supplies?

Anonymous said...

Are there any pedophiles working at Brown's?

"Is Brown's the best place in town for office supplies?"

Here's the deal. It's not competitive with the internet and there is a poor stock selection.

But they will give you service and stock the printer cartridges you use if you let them know well in advance and ride them from time to time to keep them on the shelf.

They are friendly and sometimes will even deliver and that may be worth the price and inventory difference.

Always give them the first chance.

JJ...."Idea" change the background
color on your blog opening page. Black is hard on "us" ole farts eyes. If I have to stop reading it, I won't be able to gripe.

Amen
too many people out there are chickens.
:)

Browns is a cool place.
great place to get a cup of coffee in the afternoons, dont do it as much as id like.

Anonymous said...

James you may be smiling about calling us chickens, but I am really not amused. Some would rather stay anonymous. I used my name before and was verbally attacked because of my own thoughts and opinions. At least that is how I felt anyway. I know a couple of people who figured out who I was due to a few of subjects that had been discussed on these blogs.

Anonymous said...

I would rather not put myself out there using my real name unless and until everyone else does the same. I simply don't like the idea of standing in line behind someone at the market who I have had an exchange with, and having them be the only one who knows it. The world is too dangerous a place.

Traveler Editor said...

im not anonymous.
unless of course i am an impostor.
:)
most people are anonymous so i'm not picking on you. I still think a person should be willing to stand behind what they say.

Anonymous said...

I guess I have to say I am truly sorry you feel that way Editor. I don't know if you have a family, but in mine, I try to practice what I preach about not using names and giving out private info. Do any of you identifying yourselves not ever listen to John Walsh and others like him talk about what happens using names over the net? Just because most likely we are adults and I am guessing most people posting on this blog are around this area, doesn't mean we are immune from the unsound minds of this world. But hey, don't listen to me, because I am only an anonymous person that doesn't know a thing.

Anonymous said...

Oh, if it wasn't for anonymous tips, we sure wouldn't be catching a lot of criminals, now would we?

Traveler Editor said...

maybe i should post anonymously too then

I just looked it up on KBI and I love the new feature they have that list the employers of the sex offenders... I was shocked that one is indeed working at a grocery store who did something to a 5 and 6 year old child... AND a 14 year old child.

TWO are working at sonic.

Another working at jump start.

One listed the court house.....?

Is the Traveler at this address, James? 200 SOUTH EAST 5TH AVE?

Because one listed that address...

One is also working at Skyline.

Anonymous said...

Oh I'm sure you do anyways, JJ.

Its your prerogative, Editor. :)
Meant to put a smiley face for my last sentence in my 8:27 am comment.
If I want to get a point across to the Editor, then I will email you. Otherwise I would rather stay anonymous so my kids follow my example if they are gonna get on the net.
Ok,idea..maybe not exactly what you all had in mind. But if that person is that concerned about sex offenders, then maybe you should talk to Kasha Kelley. Maybe she could help you out.

Here is the best part about the Anonymous posting.
"You can't see the mole on my nose and I can't see your cowlick"
We have no color, age or social status! Only when we choose to use that to make a point or defend a belief!!
Yet out of the postings emerge our "Core" beliefs! Those things that we feel, know and have experienced.
It is what unites or separates us and is the glue that holds society together or works to destroy it.
It is what most likely will separate us in the next life.(If you so choose to believe)
It is more interesting to look for the common things that bond us than the things that separate us.
So, does that mean there is no provision for those who do not choose the same path?

The Bible says:

"ANYONE" who comes unto me. I will in no way cast out." J.C.

I'm not giving my name out on the internet. You do what you want.
I could choose to say that just because someone puts "sally or joe" on one of these headers....how do I know who it really is?
Internet's a big place, filled with sometimes some not very nice people. I'm gonna make 'em hunt to find me. :-)

I was just looking through your local blog and thought I'd chime in. How is the weather there in Kansas?

Buy my new album when it drops.

I really hate the thought of those two in the same sentence.
Bruce has talent, has accomplished things etc., and is one of the greatest.
Paris is a cheap tramp.
