Predictions

I am not too into endorsing candidates, but I will make a few predictions just for fun. These may or may not be my preferences, it’s just who I think will win.
Obama wins in a blowout. Too many people just want change.
Roberts will win for the Senate. This race just never caught my interest.
Tiahrt will win the race for Congress, but I think it will be much closer than most people think. It could even be a November surprise, especially if the people in Wichita get out and vote. His opponent, Betts, is a very good speaker and had made a lot of points out of the fact that Tiahrt won’t debate.

At the state level, I think Ed Trimmer will win reelection by a comfortable margin. He speaks very well and his opponent does not.
On the other two I have some mixed feelings. I think Kasha Kelley will win, but it will be close. Gene Burr has worked very hard and an upset is not totally out of the question for that reason. Burr is a very good candidate and I hope he will run for something else down the road.
I’m not even going to touch the Goodwin – Abrams race for State Senate. That one is just too close to call and there’s too much emotion involved. I doubt the issues, or what they say, even matters to most people. I do think it is a shame that they are running against each other. We need both of them in office of some kind just to have balance.

At the county level I will pick Alan Groom in an upset over Carmelita Clarkson, and Gary Wilson to win re-election over Bob Voegele.
On the sales tax, Ill predict a win for the hospital and a loss for the streets.
There you have it. \\

""The flyers that came out on Ed, I had nothing to do with," Whittington said. "I would not have sent them."

(According to information on the flyers, they were paid for by the Butler County Republican Party Central Committee.)"

Just why is it that Kansas politicians are not held accountable for their actions?

Whether it is Kuhn with his darky face singing Motown, Abrams making a laughingstock out of the Kansas education system and saying he is not "anti-science, whatever that means" or this turkey claiming he had nothing to do with official Republican Committee ads, a lie is a lie.

Doesn't matter if it is a Democrat or Republican lying, they should be put in clear focus and run out of town.

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman.."

Clinton wasn't ran out of town, now was he.

It's on both sides. Crooks and liars everywhere you turn.

I know this is totally off topic but the guy in the breaking news is a total sicko. That is what totally disgusts me.

Maybe people in ac should be asking Kasha why we have to ask for a sales tax for new roads. The state budget had to have some major cuts and that trickled down to the cities having to cut their budgets. Remember way back when the local budget had to have some major cuts? After all Kasha is all for a spending freeze and making major cuts on the whole budget. Don't think that is not affecting you? Think again.

state hiway and transportations budgets cover state projects state hiways bridges etc. they only funding that comes this way is for our main artillaries like 166, the bipasses, 77 etc. there has been nothing left out of the funding for those. the funding requests for those local projects that qualify come from the city or county and go to the state. that is a process that takes place every 10 years. Kelley was not in office the last time those funding requests were authorized. you can point fingers but make sure your fingers are pointing straight and not backatcha. ask Erv Knocke if you need more informatoin on hiway and transportation funding. either he or Steve Archer would be the most knowledgeable local people besides Joe Shriver. nice try though at a last ditch election eve smear.

your gripeing about cost and budget cuts but yet you have 400,000 dollars worth of flower pots sitting on summit street that State turn around money purchased.

You deserve no further state funding if this is how you abuse your trical down funds, what makes you think a large amount would not be wasted again.

I strongly urdge you to vote no on any tax increases, while you can, the day is comeing soon when you will be paying 48% of your income on taxs and sales tax will be 50% of product value, its the democractic way,, tax tax and retax and when you do not have enough tax the tax

Foolish spending is rediculous

I predict that if Obama does not win, there will be a major uproar. Some people are predicting another Rodney King incident. Personally, I think that if he does win and some lunatic skin head succeeds in assasinating him, the riots will start. I have to admit, I'm a little afraid of our future. I hope that the minorities realize that all white people do not fear or hate Obama. I also hope that they understand a vote for McCain does not mean we are racist. It's weird, but some people have already thrown those accusations around.

obama will win, he is NOT a socialist. He is a realist. I agree that the tax increase will not make it. Hospital or other wise. Irrisponsible spending by the polititions has to stop! NOW!!!

Obama is the closest to a socialist that has ever been this close to the presidency.

"spreading the wealth" that is socialism.

Did you guys read about Obama wanting to bankrupt the coal industry?

the money on the summit project was well spent and you know it.
just open your eyes and go down there.

I think the downtown project was money worth spending. And yes, Kasha should be defending her "record"....

Anonymous said...

I don't really see what I said about Kasha as a campaigne smear, she is really a nice lady even if I don't find her to be my choice, but you're sticking your head in the sand if you truly don't think state budget cuts don't affect the local budget for local street repairs. Directly no, indirectly yes. Well she says she wants to cut out duplicate programs even in social services. Are they really duplicate programs? Well, I really hope this isn't cutting into my area of work, or their is going to be a lot of people up the creek without a paddle. She talks about spending freezes...ie everything.

Anonymous said...

We need to cut state funding is the bottom line. If that affects a road around here 5 years from now when it comes to paying to pave it then it is only because that is the most responsible decision to make now. Who knows what will happen. We've got bigger concerns at the moment.

Is Obama a Socialist ? His Associations & His Own Words

Obama’s Associations:
In 1996 Obama received the endorsement of the Democratic Socialists of America, Chicago branch.
The DSA newsletter reported that State Senator, Obama was present to eulogize socialist activist Saul Mendelson, one of the “champions” of “Chicago’s democratic left.”
Obama campaigned openly for socialist Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who won his seat in 2006.
In February 2008 a bill was rushed through the Senate Foreign Relations committee. “The Global Poverty Act” which commits the U.S. to spend hundreds of billions more in foreign aid. To comply with the United Nations’ socialist “Millennium Goals.”
Chicago Democrat, Rep. Jan Schakowsky, who endorsed socialist Howard Dean for president in 2004 has endorsed Obama for president. Schakowsky was honored at a Democratic Socialists of America 2000 dinner sponsored by the Chicago chapter.
Obama claims he chose his “friends carefully.” Yet chose to launch his political career in the living room of admitted domestic terrorist, William Ayers, who proclaimed in 2002, “I am a Marxist.” Also present was Bernardine Dohrn who extolled socialism, communism and “Marxism-Lenninism.”

Obama’s own words:
"To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully, the more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists." From Obama’s book, "Dreams from My Father."
"In search of some inspiration, I went to hear Kwame Toure, formerly Stokely Carmichael of Black Panther fame, speak at Columbia.” “At the entrance to the auditorium, two women, one black, one Asian, were selling Marxist literature." From Obama’s book, "Dreams from My Father."
In a 2001 radio interview Obama expressed his regret concerning the Supreme Court’s lack of authority to enact “redistribution of wealth,” which is a key component of Socialism.
"It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." - Barack Obama
"This is the moment when we must build on the wealth that open markets have created, and share its benefits more equitably." -Barack Obama quoting a standard Marxist doctrine.
”Globalization and technology and automation all weaken the position of workers, and a strong government hand is needed to assure that wealth is distributed more equitably." -Barack Obama with yet another socialistic statement.
“… I think that when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody,” said Obama in reply to concerns about excessive taxes on the American Dream, presented by “Joe the Plumber.” -October 12, 2008

Obama’s Wife says:
"The truth is most Americans don't want much. Folks don't want the whole pie. Most Americans feel blessed to thrive a little bit, but that's out of reach for them. The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."

If he flocks with them and talks with them and then praises them . . . He must be a socialist.

I don't think their is anything wrong with slowing down spending right now. Just be careful where one cuts.
I am voting for a sales tax for new roads because several that i have to drive down everyday, several times a day is really doing a number on my car. Kansas Ave is getting way beyond repair. Several times already has the city been working on that road and their work is constantly coming undone.

I did see a piece on Hannity & Combs last night about Obama saying he would put coal companies out of business by taxing their greenhouse gases. They also had a quote from Obama saying that under his energgy plan, electricity bills will "skyrocket". No thanks Obama.

When you vote just remember that Kasha was a cheerleader for eliminating property tax on business machinery and equipment in Kansas. The cost to provide Fire, Police and road maintenance did not change. She just shifted the cost to residential property owner and away from business.

If the city is only interested in 60 acres to build a new hospital etc, has anyone every wondered where the other acreage the Patterson's donated will be used? Could be wrong but thought there was 160 total.

Anonymous said...

The other acreage will be there for future expansion. You know, like a Lowe's! :)

I have a question to anyone who may have an answer.

pls. watch this 20 second video of Sen. Obama and tell me what a "Civilian National Security Force" means?

You remember Hitler's Brownshirts?

Same thing!

Obama will be the only one they answer to. His own private Army. I wonder how long it will take before they are going door to door collecting your guns?

@ hugh jass

Do you realize that McCain and Obama support the same position on clean coal?

In fact three years ago McCain was attacked by an Ohio republican for putting forth a proposal curbing greenhouse gas emissions.

This is nothing more then a last ditch effort to swing voters in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

@ 7:02

I want a Red Lobster. Or Target.

Anonymous said...

Obama is apparently for coal power as long as it is new, clean technology. If it is not, tax them out of business.

Wanting to tax new coal plants (that are emitting greenhouse gases) into bankruptcy, is pretty hard to take out of context.

Anonymous said...

BD, I think we could put our political differences aside on this one. I LOVE RED LOBSTER!

Byte,

What about Obama saying our electricity prices will "skyrocket"?

Thanks for the info. No I never learned this before. Saw the video on youtube and really made me wonder what he's talking about.

Sorry, I was a TERRIBLE student in history class.
However, I read the Wiki link you gave. Very informative.

Nope, haven't heard that one. What kind of leftist conspiracy theory sites are you visiting?

Maybe if Obama loses and the minorities riot Bush will have an excuse to issue marshal law. I honestly don't think Americans will stand for that, or Obama's new militia.

We could all just pray for a peaceful election day. Stop looking for such a negative outcome with everything.
