The day after

Its been just over a day since the election. The sun came up again.
I heard several republicans whining yesterday. It was the same thing the democrats did when Bush won twice, and the republicans again when Clinton won twice.
I really think it is time to break the cycle.
Which is why I favor other parties developing and getting stronger.
I really did vote for Chuck Baldwin. Its a start :)

Now both sides need to forget about the election. It is over with, time to move on. Now we need to work on making the world a better place, and even making Arkansas City a better place. We can try to work with the people who are elected, regardless of party.
Someone posted that it really isnt up to them, its up to us. I think that is right. Political parties are just ideologies. In my opinion both are too extreme. The truth is somewhere between the two. The thing is, we need to get along now and work together.

Here is a bible verse on the subject.
Romans 13:
1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

You are right, it is time to look past the political aspects of the race, and get down to business. I will admit, I didn't vote for BO, but since he did win, we need to accept it. Democracy still exist, for now, in the US, and the people have spoken. Being ex-military, I may have not liked the man, but I have been taught to respect the position. Being a Christian, I may not like the man, but I need to respect the position God put him in. HE put him there for reason.
Pres-Elect Obama is getting his first peek of the what the President does day-to-day today, when he sits in on Intel meetings. I think he may get his eyes opened today, and maybe see "why" Bush has done certain things in Iraq, and other places over the past few months and years.
I am waiting and watching from the outside, seeing what will happen from Jan 2009 to mid 2009. Those first 100 days or so will really determine if "We the People" elected the President of Change, or a President of Broken Promises.

BAH HUMBUG

Nasty little consequence of having little choice in the first place. hillary or barack...then throw mccain into the mix, they are all the same.

Regardless of the outcome we will and still have no good choices. political parties spend our money to bail out the same people obama used as advisors. Both parties voted to spend this huge amount of money. Now the car companies want a piece of the pie, what next fast food and sex shops need financial bailout? How about the firearm manufactures that will suffer under democrats, should they too get a peice of this huge nasty pie?
Gays in california no longer can marry, maybe they too need some money to fight the vote in court.

I have become very bitter about the east and west coast choosing what they think is right for kansas. I am very discouraged that regardless of right or wrong they senate and house decide to spend, spend, spend while we suffer the pain of putting up with the 5% that made bad loan decisions and can not pay the mortagae on their overpriced home in the first place.

So maybe the answer is to give up and just pay the damn taxes, surcharges, interest and whatever else the city, county, state and feds shove down our throats.

the ONLY person I feel that has tried to watch spending is Kelley, at least she had the ability to get the transparency bill passed, but I do not know how to use it now that it exsists. Why does the state not tell us, better yet why doesn't the media do a report about it. My guess it was done by a republician, so it is not news worthy to the liberal press.

A Bitter Democrat soon to be a non-caring one at that. Have a good day and thanks for listening to my rage.

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest element yet known to science.

The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes intocontact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2- 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places.

In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of morons promotion leads some scientists to believe that Government ium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Congratulations to everyone who got the sales tax increase approved- because of you I will be purchasing all my groceries and other purchases in Winfield or Ponca and the best thing is we will get to eat out at a decent restaurant while we shop. Way to make my beloved hometown even less desirable than it has become.

Anonymous said...

Chuck Baldwin? Which Baldwin brother is that?

Anonymous said...

Go to Ponca, their sales tax is still higher than AC's, even with the tax increase.

@ 9:21 AM

i feel your pain, man. lots of disillusioned people right now. not just about the presidency, but about the future. our livlihood, our children, etc., etc.

May God have mercy on the U.S.A.

I dunno. Wouldn't you pay more in gas going to and from Ponca getting groceries and spending it here? I'll admit, I have a gas guzzler for a family car ('02 Surburban, 17 mph Highway, but what else holds 6 people that is not a soccer mom van.?)Lets see, 27 miles to PC Walmart (54 miles round trip) to buy $200 in Groceries (family of 6). At $2/gal (now)that is about $6.35 in gas. 1% of $200 is $2. So, I can spend my $2, and give it to the Hospital and AC roads, or give $6.35 to Conoco-Phillips or Exxon, or some other oil-company. Hmmmmm. What shall I do? Not any cheaper for me to go to Winfield either. Even if I used my little, gas sipping car, it would still cost more to give to and from Ponca City than to buy locally.

Anonymous said...

With the rise in sales tax, it will be 8 cents on the dollar.
Its still 9 cents in Ponca City.
SO
You pay $5 to drive to Ponca City to pay more.
Nice

Anonymous said...

oh yea it is you can save 20 cents per gallon buying your gas at dillons using your nazi card , and its a personal choice to make a family trip out of it , have a picinic , or maybe get to know a little more about your little ones

Anonymous said...

Yep- I sure will pay more but I will have better restaurant choices while I'm there and more choices in general, as far as Winfield goes, many of us drive there daily so it doesn't cost anything extra to shop there. Plus, it lets the people who insisted on a new hospital rather than work with what we have know I don't support them- especially when its forced.
Those who voted for the increase don't realize that more people will shop out of town now as a result- you guys really put the shaft to the car dealers, and many other businesses already suffering-but at least you can get overcharged at the shiney new hospital- I myself will drive to Winfield out of principle.

Some people are so negative all the time. Well maybe some of us prefer to not have to be replacing front ends on our cars all the time because of how crappy our roads are. I have to drive up and down kansas ave between 2 and 5 times a day. My car gets shook bounced all over the place. Maybe you don't care, but I do. The hospital can be a big opportunity if it is given a chance. Maybe not in the next few years, but on down the line their will be expansion and growth. We will not get any more doctors in this town until our hospital grows. Lord knows their is a need for more doctors here!

@November 6, 2008 10:08 AM.....for some of us that have a hard time with chemisty, what are you talking about?

Anonymous said...

@November 6, 2008 12:42 PM.........nice that you have no pride in your hometown at all. Sorry you feel so sorely about your priorities.

Anonymous said...

why bash that person just because you dont agree , they say nothing that means they have no pride , they are stating what i have heard over and over , so what if you dont agree , we have pride , we just call it like we see it ,

Anonymous said...

You can say I don't have pride, but that is just you're uninformed opinion. I have plenty of pride in my community and in case you can't tell we pay through the teeth for it and we can't afford to pay more. When you vote for a sales tax increase they are supposed to be temporary for a particular thing but do you see the rate go down after the alloted time period? No, you don't and that is an additional reason why I don't believe in it. I would rather have a sales tax increase than another property tax increase for sure, but choosing to buy from somewhere else because I disagree with the increase is my right. Feel free to pay more and to judge me all you want- that is your right.

Anonymous said...

Priorities? Are you kidding? My priorities are fine- I am tightening my belt-trying to cover my bills, feed my children and keep a roof over our heads- its the city that thinks we have bottomless pockets. There has been funding for BOTH of the things that the sales tax was just raised for- jobs were not done and promises we not kept- that does not make it my fault or my personal priority. When and where does it end? We are taxed from every direction- if we don't approve the sales tax they just raise our property tax because they think we can afford it. So, please don't have the audacity to comment about my priorities- I pay for myself, my children and all the free loaders that make these increases with or without my support.

Anonymous said...

ha ha- how many times have you replaced your front end? Sounds like you need driving lessons not new streets- slow down- they are called dips for a reason! ha ha!

Anonymous said...

OMG! I did a "Dukes of Hazzard" jump on C street a while back! I was soooo embarrassed. I was driving along at a good clip and disciplining my children instead of watching out for "DIP" signs. Not a street I drive very often and it caught me off guard. We were flying, but the landing wasn't nearly as graceful in my truck as the General Lee makes it look. :)

Where's the dips in Kansas Ave smartmouth? All I know of is a little hill that you have to go over. FYI, I drive the speed limit or slower.

Anonymous said...

Well go for it. Do all your shopping everywhere else. Why do you people even live in this town if you hate it so much? Obviously some feel they have to keep pointing fingers at others just to make themselves feel better. I am not going to sit here and blame the people currently running the hospital for it falling apart. This started a long time ago. Then there was plans for building a new hospital, then the government said hospitals can not be owned by doctors. Then it was back to the drawing board. Take my comment whichever way you want. But I got a theory that says alot of people do not want progress in Ark City and want to run it into a ghost town.

Anonymous said...

yea i am sure YOU got it right,
i could tell , you sound so educated

Anonymous said...

I don't think that person stated there were dips on KS Ave., just that the car was in bad shape because the street was so rough. If you have any questions about the truth of that, you should drive KS Ave. I've had one vehicle rattled to death on it & other streets in this town, and the current one is already going down that same path after a yr & a half of driving AC streets. Try it on a motorcycle! There doesn't have to be dips to make KS Ave a disaster. And I don't think it is to be repaired until yr 3 or 4 on the plan. E Taylor Ave.--now that's really worth being done immediately instead of KS Ave. Will have to compare tax rates before buying the next car. :)

Anonymous said...

Last winter really did a number on alot of roads. At least i noticed that Kansas Ave got worse after all the sanding and grating. That pothole right after you get over that little hill was awful. Couldn't even see until you was upon it. Learned to dodge that one until they could fill it! :)

That intersection at Kansas and 2nd about made me lose control of my car the first time I went over it, until the city spruced it up some.

Anonymous said...

A "spruce up" is better than nothing, but an actual "fix up" is what we need. We've spruced long enough. Wish we could get Kansas Ave done before Summit-sure needs it worse.

Anonymous said...

My understanding is they are doing Kansas ave next year.
