work session

City work session went fairly quickly tonight.
The dog and cat licensing ordinance may not get passed. They are saying they want to do it to control stray - or ferrel - animals. And to make sure the animals have had their rabies shots.
Couple of the commissioners - Margolius and McDonald - feel you could get to the same goal without the ordinance.
What this would mean would be that your animal that gets out is more likely to be taken to the animal shelter.
There is the thought that they could just be taken to the shelter and if not picked up pretty fast - with the fines paid - the animal could be put down.

People shouldnt be letting their animals run loose in the city should they?

Obama's Aunt is an illegal alien... at least until January when Obama makes them all citizens.

They are going to put a stipulation in it that will allow those that use it to still be able to use it, such as the rec dept, or the high school.
now we will see if the college goes along with that

I do not want to sound like I am whining or griping here. You're right about animals shouldn't be running loose around the city but a problem I see about that is when people are at work or where ever they may be and the dog gets out. How are they supposed to know? Hopefully you have neighbors like me who have noticed a loose dog and put it up or let the owner know the dog is loose. Now why should the animal be put down so fast? Maybe they should put it up for adoption after a length of time. Why should an animal be put to sleep automatically when some owner decided they didn't want to catch the dog or cat and let it run loose. I have had numerous cats dumped in my yard and maybe some of them have wondered over .Yeah I do get tired of it. BUT I really don't think I should be the one punished for taking care of that cat. Why don't they try getting a tnr program started for cats. It may take a few years to see results, but it has been proven to drastically reduce the cat population.

There was a stipulation that the HS was to use Scott Auditorium once a year (prom) but the college has since backed out of that so I see them being nice for a few years and then backing out.

BTW - I think you are referring to feral vice ferrel animals.
