A blog by Managing Editor James Jordan about the newspaper. So far it's mostly about city commission, but I hope to delve into other local issues.

This quote was in the Wichita Eagle paper today from Cindy Sanderholm:
Cindy Sanderholm found it difficult to imagine the word forgiveness would ever show up in her mind in relation to the name Justin Thurber.
"Colby didn't feel that way, though," she said of Jodi Sanderholm's boyfriend, Colby Wilson. "Colby forgave him. And that means Colby is a much bigger and better person than I am."
Quite odd. Maybe a mis-quote. I feel really sorry for the lady, and hope she can find peace soon. I am not sure, but it seems she may be taking an issue with Mr. Wilson's publicly announcing his forgiveness of Thurber several weeks back on TV. Maybe not.
Sounds like things are going about as usual at the Cowley County district court, mistakes mistakes mistakes by the Judge, Court, Prosecuters, everyone. Too bad we don't have some really mean defense attorney's around here to hold them accountable.
WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES YOUR STATEMENT MEAN?????????
WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES YOUR STATEMENT MEAN?????????
Did you read the live blog from KWCH. It stated that the Sanderholms had received a letter from an inmate at the Eldorado facility , stating that he and some other inmates are waiting for Thurber. Justice will be served one way or the other.
It also said that he will never be in general population, so no one will be able to get to him.
To the first poster, I think you are reading things into that quote that aren't there.
I don't see how Colby can forgive this animal either, but I know the Sanderholms would not have any bad feelings toward Colby.
Just because he is not going to be in genral pop, doesn't mean they still won't get him.
We can all keep our fingers crossed that he gets shanked by some other thug who is doing life. Maybe they'll give the guy who does it special priviledges for a few days.
Gee that's harsh. I think he got the judgment he deserved, but I also think that between God and our justice system, he'll get his just reward. Thank you Judge Pringle, prosecutors and jury.
I'll be the first to admit that Sanderholms death was tragic and the Sanderholms are entitled to their grief. But give the rest of us a break, it's gotten old. Move on.
Well he was formally sentenced today.
Can you imagine what people on here would be saying if we had not covered the story?
I don't think anyone was faulting you for posting this blog on his sentencing. What is getting old is the "shanking" comment. Yes, he deserves what he has gotten and deserves more than that. But, Thurber does have a family too and those comments not just hurt him, they hurt his family. The hurt is what is getting old.
OFF TOPIC:
Why Did Bryant Hardware close and what is zack going to do with the gunshop now? Did he lose it too?
We had a story Wednesday? I think it was?
Basically he didnt have enough customers and enough business.
Doesn't affect the gun shop.
They are looking for a buyer, and it could remain a hardware store,

Double Eagle (the Gun Shop) is owned by Darrin Green and Chris Green. Zach Bryant does not, and never has owned any part of the the Double Eagle. It is open for business.
The hurt this scumbag's family feels is nothing compared to the hurt he brought upon the Sanderholm's. They will never get to see their daughter again. And they have to go through the rest of their lives thinking about her horrible, cruel death at the hands of this monster. She had so much to offer the world. All thurber offered was pain and sadness to everyone who knew him and even those who don't. I have zero sympathy for him or his family.
Why are Darren and Chris named as owners? I think they would simply be managers and technically Rhonda would be the owner.
I watched Colby's interview and he said that he struggled everyday with what happened and then he found God and when that happened he was able to forgive JT.
He said he had to forgive him in order to find peace in his life again.
He seems to be an amazing young man and I am very proud of him.
